This coffee has an amazing background. A number of farmers who make up the Klassic Beans Co-Operative noticed that a number of trees were producing long, canoe shaped beans from a number of trees growing between newer plantations growing Catimor and Timtim varietals. The only explanation for the trees is that are survivors from the very first trees planted by the Dutch that somehow had survived leaf rust diseases. Over time the farmers monitored the harvest, keeping the harvest separate from their other coffees. The beans are washed, sun-dried then hand sorted before being packed in GrainPro bags that are then put in printed white canvas bags. The annual yield is roughly one metric tonne of this very special and unique coffee.
This is a very special coffee; very elegant, smooth rich dark chocolate, complex fruit notes and body, florals and a lovely hint of spice.
